About the book
Luna Roo is rookie captain of FC Outback, preparing for her biggest match yet. Facing spider goalkeepers and snake attackers, she learns that trusting her teammates is what helps her succeed.
Written by former Australian football players Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by award-winning artist Jake A. Minton, and published by Little Book Press. The 26th annual ALIA-selected NSS title.
Discovery Page Ideas for NSS 2026
If your school uses SmartSuite Library, here are three Discovery ribbons you can build for NSS 2026 week:
"Books That Made Us Cheer" Ribbon
Group your library's sports-themed picture books, chapter books, and biographies. Pair them with TV4Education clips about Australian athletes. SmartSuite Library auto-suggests titles by ACARA tag - search for HPE Year F–2 and watch the ribbon populate.
"Stories From Country" Ribbon
Indigenous-authored picture books and TV4Ed videos exploring Country, family, and connection. SmartSuite Library's ACARA-Sync automatically tags Indigenous authors and curriculum codes for First Nations and Multicultural Education cross-curriculum priorities.
"Read It, Watch It, Live It" Ribbon
Pair a picture book with a related TV4Education video - for Luna Roo, that's the book PLUS clips on kangaroos, soccer history, and World Cup highlights. Show students how stories connect across media.
